Kate Walker. I was born in Nottinghamshire, England, but I didn't live there for very long. The family moved to West Yorkshire when I was just eighteen months old and so I have always regarded Yorkshire as my home. I grew up there as the middle child in a family of five—all girls—in a home where books were vitally important and I read anything I could get my hands on. Even before I could write I was making up s I was born in Nottinghamshire, England, but I didn't live there for very long.
Even before I could write I was making up stories. My mother tells the story of me recounting the tale of the Three Little Raindrops — Drippy, Droppy and Droopy to my two younger sisters when I was four. I can't remember a time when I wasn't scribbling away at something, and I wrote my first 'book' when I was eleven, an adventure story, most of it in secret in lessons at school—particularly maths lessons, which I hated. But everyone, particularly teachers and my parents, told me that I would never make a living as a writer, and I should work towards a more secure career.
So I decided instead that if I couldn't write books, I could at least work with them and so I settled for becoming a librarian. More importantly, university was also where I met my husband who was also studying English there.

We married and moved back north, eventually settling in Lincolnshire. Here I worked as a children's librarian until I left work when my son was born. After three years of being a full-time housewife and mother, I was ready for a new challenge, but needed something I could do at home, and so I turned to my old love of writing. My first attempts at novels were written on the kitchen table, often late into the night when my son was asleep or during a few snatched hours when he was out at nursery school.
I can still remember the moment that a letter arrived instead of the rejection slip I had been dreading. I think I must have read it over and over at least a hundred times before the reality of what it said sank in, and for days I kept checking it just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
Fitting in hobbies around working and being a wife and mother can be difficult, but I always find time to read. I love all sorts of fiction, especially Romance, obviously. I also enjoy historical novels, detective fiction and long, absorbing biographies about fascinating people and I can spend hours in bookshops just browsing.

I enjoy knitting and embroidery, but I rarely get time to do either now that I'm a full-time writer. He had but one flaw in Mia's eyes: he thought she was a murderer! How could she have lost her heart to a man who didn't trust her? Her life had been so simple 24 hours ago. Now she was confused and lost in a sea of insanity that only got more crazy by the minute.
And the only man who made sense, who helped her wade through the complicated judicial system, didn't believe in her. Ash had a thorny problem. This was a first time author for me,def will not be the last time reading her books. Cute story and even cuter? Now off to read the next book in this series of 4 brothers who are high powered lawyers set in Chicago. I will say that there is the whole sped up relationship. Feelings happen within days and I guess I can overlook that. It is one of those things you have to ignore in a romance.
His Captive Lover | The Thorpe Brothers Series
Love Mia, she is so sweet and delightful. She is a great match for an arrogant guy like Ash. They are a compliment to each other her sensitivity and innocence balance out his control and seriousness. I love them together, especially when they banter! The narrative is mixed, mostly the two leads POV, b Such a fun quick read. The narrative is mixed, mostly the two leads POV, but some supporting cast as well.
The supporting cast is sure to be heard from again in their own stories. I like the mix and all the insight the reader garners in this style. The downside is when it gets jumpy. Some of the sections are very short and it gets dizzy following who has taken the lead. Maybe it is clearer in writing? I listened to the audiobook narrated by Viv Williams, who is fabulous. She has a wonderful tone and brings life to the read. He energy throughout is a real compliment to the storytelling.
Love the quick pace of this read, it feeds into the action of the story. I will definitely be looking for more of her reads! The book does have one smexy scene, which is a open bedroom door. It does not have as much detail as an erotic novel, but it does have some sweet steam! There is delicious chemistry from the very start. I can not wait to read the other brothers stories! You get an idea of who their ladies will be and a hint of things to come.

Oct 31, Tracy T. I like this story it was cute. I liked Ash a lot. He was strong, sexy, smart and handsome. I liked Mia too, but she was a little to naive and soooo sweet, that it did sort of make her seem a bit ditsy at times. The chemistry between the two was good, not forced or fake. It was genuine and the there was a nicely written sex scene too.

There was a lot of dialogue and I like lots of dialogue. As for the narration. It was okay. I do wish the narrator did the male voices a bit deeper or something. If she did that she would make a very good narrator.
She needs to work on her voices. Giving everyone one their own voice. Her reading voice is very nice. Oct 20, Carol Lilla rated it it was amazing. First let me say I am a big fan of Elizabeth Lennox.

Mia has been accused of murdering her former boyfriend and she finds herself in the middle of a media frenzy. Ash finds himself physically and emotionally drawn to Mia, but because of his ethical code, he fights his feelings because he cannot become emotionally involved with a client, whether she is a paying client for a pro bono client. Will Mia be acquitted of murdering her former boyfriend? Will Ash give into his urges to own this woman body and soul?

All of her neighbors and fellow teachers love her. How can she be in jail? When her best friend, Autumn, sees Mia's name on the docket call for that morning's plea hearings in court, she rushes into her boss' office and begs him to help.

Ash is my kind of hero! I loved everything about this story. It was a great story. I loved how the attraction was felt right away by Ash and Mia. I cannot wait to read Kiera and Axel's story next.
Loved it!!! An entertaining story about a sweet kindergarten teacher accused of murder. Ash, a high priced lawyer, is determined to get her aquited. Being very used to powering his way through a case finds himself off balance when she doesn't always see it his way.
